Lucy Langford

Associate

I qualified in Physiotherapy from Sheffield Hallam University in 2004 after completing a BSc in Human Biology at Leeds Metropolitan University.

I have been working as a physiotherapist for nearly 20 years. I have worked in a variety of clinical settings in the NHS and in private health care. I am very passionate about my job and strongly believe in patient centered care, tailoring individual treatment plans to suit each patient and their circumstances. I am a neurological physiotherapist by background and have a special interest in dizziness and balance disorders. I love to treat complicated patients who require thinking outside of the box and innovative treatment ideas.

I am a mother of two girls and when I am not running around after them I enjoy reading, crafting, walking and gardening. I run an exercise group for the local mums, which involves a combination of stretching and strength training.

Special Interests

I have a special interest in visual and vestibular rehabilitation and disorders of the head and neck. This means I can help people with dizziness, vertigo, balance problems and headaches. I can perform repositioning maneuvers for BPPV, and provide desensitization exercises for a variety of vestibular disorders. I can help people improve and mangange more complex balance and mobility disorders.

I have lots of experience in neurological rehabilitation. I have treated an extensive list of neurological conditions including; cerebral palsy, stroke, brain injury, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, Gillian Barre syndrome, transverse myelitis, spinal injury, ataxia, motor neurone disease. I help people manage symptoms associated with these conditions such as; spasticity and hypertonia, postural control and alignment, mobility and movement problems, balance problems and sensory and proprioceptive dysfunction.
