Understanding Nerve Entrapment
Nerves can become sensitive if they are “trapped” or compressed by tight muscles, bone spurs, or inflamed tissues. This can happen anywhere in the body, from the neck (causing arm pain) to the wrist (Carpal Tunnel).
Common Symptoms
- Weakness in the muscles supplied by that nerve.
- Tingling, “pins and needles,” or burning sensations.
- A “fuzziness” or loss of sensation in the skin.
The Ashbourne Approach
We use diagnostic tests to find the exact point of entrapment. Treatment involves manual therapy to “open up” the space around the nerve and postural changes to stop the nerve from being pinched. We focus on restoring the nerve’s blood supply, which is key to stopping the “pins and needles.”
