Tennis Elbow 1

Understanding Tennis Elbow

Despite the name, most cases have nothing to do with tennis. It is an overuse injury of the tendons on the outside of the elbow that are responsible for extending your wrist.

Common Symptoms

  • Tenderness on the bony bump on the outside of the elbow.
  • Pain when gripping a kettle, turning a door handle, or typing.
  • Weakness in the wrist.

The Ashbourne Approach

We use localised friction massage to improve blood flow to the tendon and provide “eccentric” exercises that strengthen the wrist extensors. We also assess your neck and shoulder, as weakness higher up the limb often causes the elbow to do too much work.
