Understanding Referred Leg Pain
Pain, tingling, or “pins and needles” in the leg isn’t always a leg problem. It is often “referred” from the lower back, where a nerve may be irritated even if the back itself doesn’t hurt.
Common Symptoms
- Pain that travels in a specific line down the thigh or calf.
- Numbness or a “crawling” sensation on the skin.
- A feeling of “heaviness” or weakness in the foot.
The Ashbourne Approach
We perform a comprehensive neurological examination, testing your reflexes, sensation, and muscle power. Once we identify the level of the spine that is causing the issue, we use specific movements to “centralise” the pain (moving it from the leg back to the back) and eventually eliminate it altogether.
