Understanding Groin Injuries
A groin strain is a tear or overstretch of the adductor muscles on the inside of the thigh. It is a common injury in football, rugby, and hockey due to the high demands of changing direction.
Common Symptoms
- Pain when squeezing the legs together.
- Sharp pain in the inner thigh during sprinting or kicking.
- Stiffness in the groin the morning after exercise.
The Ashbourne Approach
Groin injuries have a high rate of recurrence if not rehabbed properly. We follow a “Copenhagen” style protocol, which is the gold standard for adductor strengthening. We also look at your core stability and pelvic alignment to ensure you aren’t overcompensating with your groin muscles during sports.
