Understanding Bone & Joint Healing
Once a bone has knitted back together or a joint has been put back in place, the surrounding soft tissues—muscles, tendons, and ligaments—are often weak and scarred. Prolonged immobilisation in a cast or sling leads to “disuse atrophy,” where the body loses its natural movement patterns.
Common Symptoms
- Significant joint stiffness and “frozen” sensations.
- Muscle wasting and weakness in the affected limb.
- Fear of re-injury during movement.
The Ashbourne Approach
Rehab is a journey. We start with gentle “active-assisted” movements to restore range of motion without overstressing the healing tissue. As you progress, we introduce functional loading—helping you regain the strength needed for lifting, walking, or sport. Our goal is to ensure your recovery is 100%, not just “good enough.”
